Benefits of Reusable Water Bottles
Help the environment
Americans use over 2 million bottles of water every hour, and only about 27% of them are recycledHel, the rest end up in landfills. You can help improve these numbers by using reusable water and beverage bottles.
Drinking water is a very helathy choice, so why not make a healthy choice for the environment too.
New water bottles, or hydration bottles as they are sometimes called, come in a variety of modern fun designs, to fit your lifestyle and needs. If you need to carry water with you on a bike ride, and you like the traditional squeeze bottles, look at the polar insulated water bottle. It will fit well into the typical bicycle water holder, and keep your beverage cold throughout your ride. If you are leary of both plastic and metal hydration bottles you could choose Lifefactory's ultra safe glass beverage bottle. If you would rather not tilt the bottle to sip your water, opt for a flip straw water bottle.
Not only do water bottles come in a variety of materials, such as stainless steel, aluminum, plastic and glass, but there are also a wide variety of lids: sports lids, screw lids, flip straws, and several others. Consider also your method of carrying your beverage. Some bottles have no handles, some come with finger loops, others with carabines, still others have ergonomically designed bodies and grips for easy grasp.

Water Versus Sports Drinks
Water
People tend to debate which is better, water or a sports/ energy drink when exercising. The truth is that for most people water is the best option. Your body needs to stay well hydrated and the best way is to drink plenty of water, especially before, during and after a workout. Most people only lose a few electrolytes during their workouts, which can be replaced by water and a healthy diet.
Sports Drinks
If you exercise vigorously for over an hour, or in hot, humid conditions, then you may be losing more electrolytes than what can be replaced with just water alone. Sports or energy drinks contain electrolytes (usually sodium, chloride, and potassium), carbohydrates (sugars), and calories. Drinking water before you exercise, even several hours before you exercise, then drinking a sports drink after a heavy workout will help replenish lost electrolytes, and boost your energy. Be careful though, sports drinks do contain calories, so don't guzzle them down if you don't need them.
